They Put Turn Signals On A Bike Helmet

by Andrew CaringiThere’s a spirited debate over whether bike helmets truly help. But it’s hard to argue that having bright lights might help drivers see bikers. Let’s take that one step further — bike helmets with turn signals. The Lumos bike helmet was built for safety-conscious bikers with 50 LEDs controlled through a wireless remote clipped to the handlebar. An embedded accelerometer automatically triggers the brake lights when you decelerate. After raising $800,000 on Kickstarter, Lumos has now started producing and shipping thousands of helmets. It remains to be seen how much they’ll be seen.
