Nick Cannon probably won’t be returning to the America’s Got Talent stage as a host.
According to TMZ, Cannon feels disrespected by NBC and executives working for the show because he faced criticism while making a joke during his stand up tour. The joke incorporated some choice language, including the n-word, which compromises Cannon’s PG persona on network television.
Cannon tells Howard Stern, “I can not see myself returning.” TMZ also released a statement from the entertainment persona saying “My soul won’t allow me to be in business with corporations that attempt to frown on freedom of speech, censor artists, and question cultural choices.”
It’s reported that higher ups at NBC are willing to let the joke slide, but Cannon isn’t willing to forget that it was ever in question.
America will always have talent, but next season it might not have Nick Cannon.
