On Saturday, President Trump accused the media of abusing his daughter Ivanka.
The assertion was made on Twitter.
Trump wrote, “I am so proud of my daughter Ivanka. To be abused and treated so badly by the media, and to still hold her head so high, is truly wonderful!”
Though he didn’t provide specific examples of the alleged mistreatment, it is highly probable he was referring to the coverage of Nordstrom’s decision to drop Ivanka Trump’s fashion line.
When the department store announced it would no longer be carrying the merchandise, it was made clear that the decision was just business.
A Nordstrom spokesperson told Business Insider, “Each year we cut about 10% [of brands carried] and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand's performance we've decided not to buy it for this season."
Regardless, President Trump appeared to view the decision as a personal affront to Ivanka, tweeting, “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”
