A dramatic video has emerged of the mast of a catamaran collapsing as the crew try to beat a record.

The footage, shot off the coast of Mallorca, Spain last week, captured the moment the mast caves in forcing the crew to stop as they travel at a speed of 22 knots.

Iker Martinez and his team were trying to beat the speed record around the island of Mallorca.
