Hologram technology gives a modern twist to French elections

It has been a weekend for rallies for most of the candidates with an eye on the French presidency. On the far-left Jean-Luc Melenchon surprised his supporters by appearing live in Lyon while materialising at the same time in Paris in the form of a hologram.
It was a modern twist as Melenchon tries to appeal to voters disillusioned with main stream parties.
“As long as you will be under the European budget pact, no progressive policies are possible. We have to get out of the pacts. It is the prerequisite for change,” Melenchon told supporters.
Elsewhere in Paris the Socialists were officially adopting their presidential candidate Benoit Hamon. He beat his former boss, ex-Prime Minister Manuel Valls to lead the Socialist’s bid but latests opinion polls say he has little chance of getting beyond the first round of the election in April.

Socialist Benoit Hamon 16 – 17% support
National Front Marine Le Pen 25% support
Independent centrist Emmanuel Macron 21-22% support
