Rattlesnake in toilet: Texas family finds rattlesnake in toilet, 23 more under the house

ABILENE, TEXAS — After being rattled by a slithery surprise on Tuesday, a family in Abilene, Texas quickly realized their unwanted houseguest had brought friends. Lots of friends.
KVUE reports that young Isaac McFadden had gone to the bathroom that morning and found a big clump in the toilet bowl. It was a rattlesnake — fully grown and very much alive.
The boy’s mother sent her other son to fetch a shovel and promptly killed the snake with it as it slithered out of the toilet.
They then called Nathan Hawkins from Big Country Snake Removal, who deduced that the serpent had gotten in through a relief pipe.
It wasn’t alone, either. Hawkins checked the storm cellar and found 13 adult snakes inside. He then crawled under the house and discovered 10 more — five adults and five babies, all of them western diamondback rattlesnakes.
Fortunately, all 24 snakes were found and caught. The relief pipe has also been sealed, which hopefully means no more venomous surprises during toilet time.
