Filming These Endangered Monkeys Might Be The Key To Saving Them

by Anthony FalcoNew footage of the critically endangered Dryas monkey could be their saving grace.Until recently, scientists believed the Dryas monkeys lived in only in the Congo Basin. But in 2014, a population was discovered nearly 250 miles away. Florida Atlantic University teamed up with the Lukuru Foundation TL2 Project to become the first organization to film the Dryas monkeys in their newly discovered habitat. Studying them may take some time, since their scarcity and dense, high-up jungle habitat makes tracking them difficult. Even so, the footage is a major boost to conservation efforts to monitor the population size and learn more about the elusive species.
