Ford’s new “hangover suit” will kill your buzz.The automaker designed the suit to simulate the symptoms of a hangover to show new drivers that driving the morning after drinking can be dangerous. The suit is heavy, rolling in at 37 pounds and has bright, cold colored lights recreate the hypersensitivity to light and dizziness. Headphones are used to amplify ambient noise, and pump sounds of a pounding heartbeat. Weighted headgear that tightens around your head to give you a feeling of heaviness and exhaustion. Researchers had trouble recreating that terrible dry mouth feeling, they tried dry chocolate, sponges, and sprays, but still couldn’t get it quite right. There’s no substitute for real world experience in research, so the researchers tied one on before making the suit. All in the name of science.
