They are using it to help them investigate Nazi war crimes. The virtual camp is based on laser scans of the modern day site. Nazi blueprints were used to recreate any buildings that were destroyed. Many junior Nazi officers have escaped sentencing by claiming they were unaware of the horrific events happening at Auschwitz. This VR experience will help determine what these individuals would have witnessed from their posts.
