Google Tech Breathes Life Into Ancient Artifacts

by Jonathan SangerThe Detroit Institute of Arts teamed up with Google to give new life to a 2,000-year-old mummy using augmented reality. The app, called Lumin, was created for Google’s Tango platform with the help of developer GuidoGO. It uses augmented reality to overlay digital visuals on top of real world objects allowing museum visitors to time travel and see pieces as they may have looked thousands of years ago. The app gives visitors the ability to manipulate objects and see how they were originally used, bringing these ancient artifacts into the 21st century.
