by Anthony FalcoElon Musk’s Hyperloop is one step closer to reality after 27 teams competed in the Hyperloop Pod Competition at SpaceX headquarters in California. In the end, only three teams, MIT, Netherlands’ Delft University and Germany’s Technical University earned the right to use the mile-long test track. Delft got the highest overall score, while Technical achieved the fastest speed at 58 mph. MIT placed third overall, but also took home the Safety and Reliability Award. The hope is that one day the Hyperloop will transport passengers through tubes at speeds of over 700 mph.
