Trump picks conservative Neil Gorsuch for Supreme Court

President Donald Trump has chosen conservative federal judge, Neil Gorsuch to fill the vacancy on the US Supreme Court.
At 49, he’s the youngest nominee to the nation’s highest court in more than a quarter century.
He was picked from a shortlist of 21 possible choices that Trump made public during his presidential campaign.
“This may be the most transparent judicial selection process in history. I am a man of my word, I will do as I say, something that the American people have been asking for from Washington for a very, very long time,” announced President Trump.
Should Gorsuch be confirmed by the Senate, he will restore the court’s 5-4 conservative majority and help influence rulings on divisive issues such as abortion, gun control and the death penalty.
Liberal protesters immediately opposed the nomination
The advocacy group People for the American Way described Gorsuch as an “ideological warrior who puts his own right-wing politics above the Constitution.”
