Study: Evidence Indicates Universe Could Be A Hologram

A new study by an international team has found, based on observational evidence, that the universe could be a hologram.

A new study claims to have “the first observational evidence that the universe could be a hologram.”
The work by an international team focuses on irregularities detected in the universe after the Big Bang occurred.
They argue that such discrepancies between Einstein’s theory of gravity and quantum mechanics could be explained if the universe was, in fact, a hologram, according to a press release by the University of Waterloo.
One of the researchers, Kostas Skenderis, has explained, “The idea is similar to that of ordinary holograms where a three-dimensional image is encoded in a two-dimensional surface, such as in the hologram on a credit card. However, this time, the entire universe is encoded.”
As such, the study could help to further a concept called quantum gravity which helps to bridge the gap between the theory of gravity and quantum mechanics.
The hypothesis that the universe could be a holographic entity was first introduced in the 1990s.
Throughout the years, research has been done to advance the notion including a mathematical explanation of how holography even works.
