In a statement posted to Facebook, Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has expressed her heartbreak over President Trump’s recent executive order temporarily banning refugees and certain immigrants from entering the U.S.

Malala Yousafzai has expressed heartbreak over President Trump’s executive order temporarily banning refugees and immigrants from predominantly Muslim countries.
In a statement posted to the Malala Fund Facebook page, the Nobel Peace Prize winner says, “I am heartbroken that today President Trump is closing the door on children, mothers and fathers fleeing violence and war.”
She then adds, “I am heartbroken that America is turning its back on a proud history of welcoming refugees and immigrants — the people who helped build your country, ready to work hard in exchange for a fair chance at a new life.”
The young activist eventually ends her statement by writing, “In this time of uncertainty and unrest around the world, I ask President Trump not to turn his back on the world’s most defenseless children and families.”
Others have also spoken out about Trump’s controversial order. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a message to his page saying, “Like many of you, I'm concerned about the impact of the recent executive orders signed by President Trump.”
And while Zuckerberg suggests the U.S. bar entry to those who pose a threat, he goes on to say that people who need help or could benefit the country should be allowed in.
Meanwhile, U.S. Representative Jim Cooper tweeted that “The first two refugees kept out of America by President Trump's order are Iraqis who helped US troops survive during the war.”
