NFL: Number of concussions dropped in 2016

The NFL Thursday reported that fewer concussions occurred over the 2016 season than 2015. The league says that the total number of concussions, including practices, preseason and regular season games, was 244 compared to 275 in 2015. Jed York, co-founder of the 49ers and medical doctor who leads the owners’ efforts on preventing brain injuries, says more players are voluntarily reporting concussion-like symptoms. “We’ve seen an increased number in self-reported concussions this year over last year,”
