Disney wants to try and use CGI to portray Carrie Fisher

According to a report from BBC's Newsnight, Disney is negotiating with Carrie Fisher's estate over the use of her image as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise. The company does not want to recast the role or write her out of the script so they are hoping to be granted the rights to create a CGI image of Fisher as Leia. Star Wars has previously CGI to revive dead or younger characters, like they did with Peter Cushing's character and a younger version of Fisher's Princess Leia in Rogue One. Fisher had already completed filming her scenes for Episode VIII so the CGI version of her would not be seen until Episode IX.
