Cristiano Ronaldo won the Best FIFA Men's Player award

Last month, Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon D'or, the French award for the best soccer player in the world. Today, Ronaldo won FIFA's award for the same category. Ronaldo beat out Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann for the trophy, receiving 34.54 percent of the total vote. "I'd like to thank my team, national team, Real Madrid, my trainer, my family that came here, my son, my brothers. 2016 was the best year of my career, the trophy shows that people aren't blind and watch the games." Other awards were given out as well, including Men's Coach of the Year and Best FIFA Women's Player, awarded to Claudio Ranieri and Carli Lloyd respectively.
