How Did Theranos, Blood-Testing Unicorn, Fail

In 2014, they said she was the next Steve Jobs with her business secrets, innovation, and black turtleneck she wore every day. However, Elizabeth Holmes’ hot start-up Theranos didn’t last very long. Theranos customers were excited about the prospect of a blood test with just a prick of a finger. The company had a partnership with Walgreens, which added Theranos walk-up counters to a few of their stores. However, their 41 patents didn’t mean scientific evidence. Doctors told NBC News that Theranos published zero peer-reviewed studies of how its technology worked. Theranos’ machines proved to be faulty. Their investors sued them and Walgreens broke off their deal.
