Psoriasis-caused PsA Can Lead to Permanent Joint Damage

One million Canadians suffer from Psoriasis. Psoriasis is an immune mediated disease. The number one symptom of psoriasis are red, itchy patches of skin. Another unfortunate condition caused by psoriasis is PsA. It only effects 10 to 30 percent of people with psoriasis, but those who have it experience inflamed joints. Experts say individuals who have PsA cannot ignore the pain they experience either. Dr. Afsaneh Alavi, a Toronto-based dermatologist stated, “PsA can come on suddenly or develop slowly, but either case it can permanently destroy joints if left untreated.”
