Trump to nominate ex-senator Dan Coats for director of national intelligence

President-elect Donald Trump will name ex-senator Dan Coats his director of national intelligence, Trump transition team members tell The New York Times. Coats, who retired from the Senate this month after deciding not to seek re-election last year, would become Trump's principal adviser on intelligence matters. Coats, who is seen as a traditional Republican, served two stints in the Senate and was ambassador to Germany during George W. Bush’s presidency.
