Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher will have a joint funeral and are to be buried together in Hollywood, according to Reynolds’ son.

Todd Fisher said no date had been set for the funeral, which will be private.

Carrie Fisher’s body was released to her family on Friday. The actress and writer who starred as Princess Leia in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, died on Tuesday after suffering a suspected heart attack on board a flight from London to LA.

Debbie Reynolds, who hit fame as a teenager with “Singin’ in the Rain”, died a day later. She had simply said she wanted to be with her daughter, according to her son.

“Star Wars” fans have been paying tribute to Fisher whose iconic character helped organise a rebellion against the Empire.

At one event in Taiwan they held a minute’s silence while holding lightsabers.

The organiser said Princess Leia was a very special character who not only played an important part in “Star Wars” culture but provided a “big breakthrough” in depicting stronger female characters in cinema.
