Shabana Azmi Talks About The Copyright Amendment Act At A Book Launch Event

Shabana Azmi said that she welcomes the passing of the copyright amendment act as it would now ensure that composers and lyricists get justice. Azmi said that as per the act, everytime a film song is played at a stage event or even as a caller tune, the artiste will get 12.5%, which is quite fair. She also compared the financial conditions of western artistes like the Beatles and Elton John Vis a vis indian artistes, who still suffer poverty in many cases.
