The California Highway Patrol, or CHP, recently saw something it has never encountered before. A motorist had put zip ties around the tires of a car, likely hoping that they would help solve issues regarding snow and traction.

A motorist had put zip ties around the tires of a car, likely hoping that they would help solve issues regarding snow and traction.
According to the CHP, they will not.
In a Facebook post, the patrol warned, “Seriously don't be this guy! Zip ties! These will not suffice as traction control devices.”
Some noted that they are a special kind of plastic fasteners specifically designed to do the job.
The CHP commented that even if the information is true, it’s irrelevant, as their use is prohibited under California law.
