The Associated Press selected Simone Biles as one of their athletes of the year. Biles, an individual all-around, vault and floor gold medalist, was part of the gold medal-winning team known as the "Final Five" at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The all-star gymnast won a total of 19 Olympic and World Championship medals. The AP said that Biles received 31 out of the 59 votes towards the grand title.
