Usually, it is seen that when a movie based on real--life characters is made, it results in a lot of legal notices and complaints from various sides regarding the way the character has been portrayed.

However, it seems that Sanjay Gupta, whose next flick 'Shootout At Wadala' revolves around the life of Manya Surve, claims that he is ready for any and all kinds of controversies arising after the movie releases. At the first look event of the film, when asked if there is anything controversial in the film, Gupta candidly admitted,

"The film will give rise to controversies. What happens is that when we research about a particular person for a character, we get 10 different versions. When we were trying to find out more about Manya Surve, we used to get a different version from his friends or his relatives or people from his locality. Then we had to go through the police records too and had to go through all this data to build this character. Also, whenever a film releases, it has become a trend for people to start filing cases...but we are prepared for it."

Based on real-life gangster Manya Surve, 'Shootout At Wadala' dramatizes the first ever recorded encounter in the history of Mumbai Police.
