Mahesh Bhatt: 'Kamal Haasan is a victim of state terrorism'

Indian film fraternity has come out in support of actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, whose latest release 'Vishwaroopam' has been banned in Tamil Nadu by the state government. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt recently lashed out at the Tamil Nadu government for imposing a ban on the movie and stated that Kamal has become a victim of state terrorism.
"Kamal Haasan is a national asset, he made a film, he showed it to the censor board and received a legitimate certificate from them and even after that the state bans his film. The Supreme Court states that you can't ban a film on the pretext of law and order, it's not allowed and even after that this film was banned in Tamil Nadu, even the High Court has approved of his film. I would only say that Kamal Hassan is a victim of state terrorism. In a country where we have the right to freedom of expression, despite having a censor board certificate, a filmmaker has to beg in front of people to let his film release.
"I think every entertainer should speak in favour of Hassan, had there been anything objectionable in the film HC wouldn't have cleared it. Every Indian should fight for Kamal," he further added.
'Vishwaroopam' stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role along with Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Rahul Bose and the screening of the film has been put on hold by the Tami Nadu government for allegedly hurting Muslim sentiments.
