Raanjhanaa: How Sonam Kapoor Prepared For Her School Girl Role
  • 7 years ago
Sonam Kapoor will essay the role of a young Banarasi girl in her upcoming film Raanjhanaa and she'll portray her character's journey from childhood to youth, in the movie. Sonam will be seen in a school uniform too and she had to get her voice and body language right to get into the skin of the character.

Talking about the preparations that she did for the role, Sonam said, "When I was told that I had to essay the character of a school girl, I told the makers that I was in school ten years ago and shared my apprehensions with them. I had forgotten how I was in school so I watched a few films and I removed my make-up for the film."

"When I take off my make-up and wear simple clothes I look very young, thanks to my genes. I think I just had to change my body language and my voice. My voice is not very shrill but the voice that I have used for the first twenty minutes in Raanjhanaa that is very shrill as when we are young our voice is different. So it was all about getting into that age, getting into the body language of the character," he further added.

Sonam will share screen space with South star Dhanush and Abhay Deol and the film is slated to hit the theaters on June 21, 2013.
