Teacher disciplined after posing inappropriate algebra question to students

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OHIO — A math teacher at Middleburg Heights Junior High School outside Cleveland has been disciplined for showing his students a naughty algebra question.

Teacher Daniel Rapp got in trouble after one of his students snapped a photo of a sexting-related math problem displayed on their classroom’s projector screen.

The question: Tony can send five texts and three nude selfies in 19 minutes. He can also send three texts and one nude in nine minutes. How long would it take Tony to send one text and one nude selfie?

The father of two 14-year-old students told local Fox affiliate WJW he was “appalled” by the question and had filed a formal complaint.

The school’s superintendent told the station that Mr. Rapp had been reprimanded for the inappropriate question but will remain in the classroom. The school would not give the station Mr. Rapp’s file, but the superintendent did say a “similar reprimand” was already in the teacher’s file.

In case you’re wondering, the answer to the question is it would take Tony five minutes to send one text and one nude.
