Cavs' JR Smith expected to miss 4-6 weeks after thumb surgery

Cavaliers' guard J.R. Smith will have to ride the pine for 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery on his right thumb. According to Dr. Richard Parker at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, Smith fractured his right thumb. The injury occurred in the first half of the Cavaliers' overtime win against the Bucks in Milwaukee. Smith sports averages of 8.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this season and signed a four-year, $57 million contract extension in the offseason.
