Lena Dunham stirred up controversy during a recent episode of her podcast by saying she wishes she’d had an abortion. Dunham described an encounter she had at a Planned Parenthood in Texas, where she was asked to participate in a project about women sharing their stories about how they have had abortions. “I feel so proud of them for their bravery, for their self-knowledge, and it was a really important moment for me then to realize I had internalized some of what society was throwing at us and I had to put it in the garbage,” she said. “Now I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.” Many people took to Twitter to express their outrage at Dunham’s comments.
