Fragile peace in Abyei as Sudanese ethnic tensions persist

A fragile peace exists in Abyei, a disputed territory between Sudan and South Sudan, after an agreement signed in February and the reopening of a market in Amiet. But the long-standing inter-communal tensions between the Ngok-Dinka ethnic majority and the pastoral Misseriya population persist -- and many of those displaced by the violence are reluctant to return to the area.
