A Newsweek reporter is claiming that he suffered a seizure after a Twitter user sent him a flashing video intended to "trigger his epilepsy," reports The Hill.
In a series of tweets on Friday morning, Kurt Eichenwald, a Trump critic, stated, “Last night, for the second time, a deplorable aware I have epilepsy tweeted a strobe at me with the message ‘you deserve a seizure' on it, it worked.”
A screenshot of what is believed to be the inciting post shows a red background with a yellow star-like pattern and the words, “You deserve a seizure for your posts.”
A separate screenshot of Eichenwald’s twitter account shows a response to that message which reads, “This is his wife, you caused a seizure. I have your information and have called the police to report the assault.”
It appears that the Newsweek reporter has since deleted that message but continued his update by writing, “This is not going to happen again. My wife is terrified. I am...disgusted.”
He then announced that they plan to file a lawsuit to identify the sender and eventually declared, “This individual will be going to court, and he will be paying a price. And if any of you others ever try this again, I will make sure it happens to you.”
Eichenwald ended his comments by reiterating that “...this is not a joke.”
There is speculation that the allegedly harmful tweet was a response to dozens of Eichenwald's posts after he and Tucker Carlson traded barbs over Trump during a recent Fox News interview.
