Trump Adviser: Climate Change Science Could Be Similar To Evidence Showing A Flat Earth

A member of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has recently indicated that the science around climate change could be similar to the kind that used to show the Earth was flat.
The comment was made on Wednesday by Anthony Scaramucci who told Chris Cuomo on CNN, “I know that the current president believes that the human beings are affecting the climate. There are scientists that believe that that's not happening.”
After Cuomo argued that the scientific community has reached a consensus about the issue, Scaramucci said, in part, “There was an overwhelming science that the earth was flat and there was an overwhelming science that we were the center of the world...We get a lot of things wrong in the scientific community.”
A Washington Post report about Scaramucci's recent comment notes, "Assuming that he meant we were the center of the universe, which was a not an uncommon belief hundreds of years ago, it's critical to note that these are not what we would consider valid scientific assessments. Not because they were wrong, but because they didn't derive from science."
The Guardian notes that Trump himself has, in the past, claimed that global warming was a Chinese hoax, and he recently nominated climate change skeptic Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
But Trump has also met with well-known environmental advocates Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio since winning the election.
On Fox News this past Sunday, the president-elect stated about the environment, “I’m still open-minded. Nobody really knows.”
