Report: Google no longer developing self-driving car

Google has reportedly decided to put a halt on developing its own autonomous car with the company's parent company, Alphabet. The company is now said to partner with automakers to produce a vehicle that drives itself but still retains the traditional cockpit features, according to a report released by The Information. Alphabet CEO Larry Page and CFO Ruth Porat are believed to be behind the decision to pivot. According to the report, Alphabet believes the existing plan of creating a completely self-driving car without a steering wheel is impractical. Google is expected to officially make an announcement related to self-driving cars later on Tuesday.
