TIME announced on Thursday that in designing for its 2016 ‘Person of the Year’ magazine cover it did not intentionally make it appear as if devil horns are sprouting from Donald Trump’s head.
The theory that the magazine did it purposely emerged in the hours following the announcement that the president-elect had been chosen as the year’s biggest news influencer.
Many took to social media noting that TIME's 'M' was a bit too perfectly placed atop Trump’s blonde locks, notes CBS News.
One Twitter user noted, “Given all of the sets of eyes that vet a prospective Time cover, the odds that those Devil Horns are accidental: 0%.”
In a statement, the publication insisted, “Any resemblance to cats, bats or devil horns is entirely coincidental.”
To further make its case for chance, TIME put together a slide presentation of the many others who have gotten the inadvertent ‘devil horn’ treatment.
Among them are Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Pope Francis, Angelina Jolie, and Jesus Christ.
