Trump Explains Why He Tweets So Much

In a recent tweet, President-elect Donald Trump indicated that he tweets so much because the press does not cover him “accurately & honorably.”

President-elect Donald Trump has become known for using social media to express his views, and he recently explained why he has chosen to do so.
On Monday, he stated on Twitter, “If the press would cover me accurately & honorably, I would have far less reason to ‘tweet.’ Sadly, I don't know if that will ever happen!”
NPR reports that while it is unclear what prompted him to post the message, Trump echoed this belief on CBS' '60 Minutes' where he told Lesley Stahl that the platform was a way to combat stories he didn’t agree with and, according to him, “get the word out.”
Trump has previously criticized reports by NBC and CNN, the latter of which he once referred to as “the Clinton network.”
He also publicized his issues with the New York Times, tweeting that their coverage of him was “inaccurate” and “nasty.”
In addition to expressing his personal thoughts on the platform, Trump has used Twitter to signal his administration’s positions on certain policies; on December 4, he tweeted, "The U.S. is going to substantialy reduce taxes and regulations on businesses.”
The president-elect then warned companies considering leaving the U.S. that the decision would be “a very expensive mistake!”
Saturday Night Live recently mocked Trump’s use of Twitter in an opening sketch, and he responded by tweeting that the show was “unwatchable.”
