Dylann Roof, who is charged in the killing of nine black parishioners at a South Carolina church, asked the judge to have his lawyers back. Roof asked Judge Richard Gergel for his defense team for the guilt phase of his federal death penalty trial that is set to begin in a few days in Charleston. Roof wrote in a note to the judge. The 22-year-old faces dozens of charges for the June 2015 shootings at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston.
