A brief call between President-elect Donald Trump and President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines has reportedly resulted in an invitation to meet in person at the White House in 2017.
According to Reuters, the approximately 7-minute exchange occurred on Friday.
A man identified as Duterte’s aide, Christopher Go, posted a Facebook photo of the Asian leader on the phone with the caption, “Very engaging and animated phone conversation between pres duterte and president elect trump.”
TIME points out the Philippine president has often been compared to Trump based on their outspoken personalities.
Since his election in May, Duterte has attracted controversy by supporting the deaths of suspected drug traffickers, notes NBC News.
His scheduled meeting with the current U.S. president was notably canceled several months ago after Duterte called Obama the equivalent of a “son of a b****.”
