Iran has strongly condemned a U-S senate vote on extending sanctions against the Islamic Republic, stressing that the measure violates last year’s nuclear deal between Tehran and the P5+1 group. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said the renewal of anti-Iran measure also breaches Washington’s commitments under international law. He noted that domestic developments in the U-S are no excuse for violating its obligations. Bahram Qassemi called on President Barack Obama to use all his powers to prevent the enforcement of anti-Iran legislation. He said the latest U-S move will be reported to the Iranian committee monitoring the implementation of the deal. The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that Iran has prepared itself for all possible scenarios and will defend its rights under any circumstances. On Thursday, the US Senate unanimously approved the renewal of the bill known as Iran’s Sanctions Act or ISA.
