MIANZHU,CHINA — A former webcam girl in China has been sentenced to four years in prison for posting “obscene” material to the internet, including video of a foursome.

Police say the 21-year-old, known only by her surname Lin, worked as a saleswoman but had a “perverse” desire to be famous and so started working as a camgirl, Chengdu Business Daily reported.

Camgirls can make money by teasing their viewers into purchasing virtual gifts for them. The more they’re willing to do more, the more money the make. In her new line of work,

Lin went by the name Sydney Gun or Xue Liqiang. She often received virtual gifts from her fans by exposing her body and cleavage.

She is accused of working with a group that put together a collection of 31 “obscene” videos and had a following or 40,000 fans.

In March, Lin featured in a foursome with two men and another woman. The video went viral and has been known as the “Chengdu Foursome.” The video caught the eye of police in nearby Mianzhu city.

On May 4, while returning from a trip to Dubai, Lin was arrested along with her alleged accomplices. Lin confessed that the desire to become famous lured her into becoming a camgirl. She was charged last Thursday with disseminating pornographic material for profit and sentenced to four years in prison and fined 100,000 yuan.

The Chinese government is serious about getting rid of lewd content on the country’s internet. So much so that it’s even banned videos of women eating bananas in a suggestive manner.
