Hundreds of protesters were arrested in July after taking to the streets of Baton Rouge to object the shooting of Alton Sterling, 37, who was killed by police. Baton Rouge's Metro Council voted to approve the $100,000 settlement of a federal class-action lawsuit brought on by the protesters. The city will now pay $250 to each of the 92 plaintiffs involved in the lawsuit, according to court documents. DeRay Mckesson, Black Lives Matter organizer, was among the protesters that took place during the summer demonstration.
