GLASGOW, SCOTLAND — One of the UK’s top universities will next year offer a philosophy class based on iconic American television show The Simpsons.

At a cost of around $37, the one-day University of Glasgow course will explore moments from through the 25-year-old lens of classic philosophers. “The Simpsons is one of the modern world’s greatest cultural artefacts partly because it is so full of philosophy,” notes the University of Glasgow website description of the course.

Entitled “D'Oh! The Simpsons Introduce Philosophy,” the course is being taught by philosophy instructor John Donaldson, reported the BBC.

Speaking to the BBC, Donaldson described the show as a “great work of art.”

“There’s so much going on it,” he said. “It encourages you to reflect on what’s important in life.”

After news of the course went viral, it apparently already sold out of its initial January dates. However, a new date, Saturday, March 4, was on offer when TomoNews visited the University of Glasgow website this Tuesday.
