Insulin Drugs See 200% Price Increase Over Eight Years
  • 7 years ago
Over the past eight years, the average price per milliliter of insulin has increased by over 200 percent. Part of the problem is that only three U.S. companies make insulin. 30 million Americans are estimated to have diabetes, and 10 percent of those people are type-1, which means they require daily treatment throughout their entire life. There is no generic brand of insulin currently on the market, but one is set to hit shelves this December, which will increase competition and thus hopefully bring price relief.
