Teen Dying Of Cancer Given Permission To Have Her Body Frozen

Details of a court case have recently been released of a 14-year-old girl in the U.K. who went to court to ensure that she would be cryogenically frozen after her death so she could one day possibly live again.

A dying teenager in the U.K. succeeded in securing one of her last wishes before she died--to have her body cryogenically frozen, reports the BBC.
The recently revealed case involves a 14-year-old, known only by the initials JS, who was determined to have a rare and terminal cancer.
She reportedly researched preservation by freezing and decided on that method in the hope that she could one day be brought back to life.
Because of her age, she needed her parents to sign off on a will, and her estranged father initially opposed the decision due to costs and future consequences so she went to court to get approval.
The teen wrote a letter to the judge which stated, in part, “...I don't want to die but I know I am going to die...I think being cryopreserved gives me a chance to be cured and woken up - even in hundreds of years' time....I don't want to be buried underground….I want to live and live longer and I think that in the future they may find a cure for my cancer and wake me up.”
Despite some reservations, the judge agreed to her request before the girl died on October 17.
Her body has since been taken to a facility in Michigan.
