Violent riots spark during Polytechnic uprising anniversary in Greece

Dramatic footage has emerged from Thessaloniki, Greece, of a riot breaking out after the Polytechnic Students’ Uprising commemoration march.

The video, shot on Thursday night, shows protesters throwing projectiles and flares at police forces.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras reportedly said: "The Polytechneio uprising does not fade from memory because it symbolises people’s need and will for more democracy," during the anniversary ceremony.
