American Apparel files for second bankruptcy

American Apparel LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday for the second time in just over a year. The fashion retailer listed assets and liabilities up to $500 million, according to a Delaware court filing. Canadian clothing company Gildan Activewear agreed to buy intellectual property rights from the brand in a$66 million deal. Retail stores throughout the U.S. will remain open.
