Kamala Harris just made history as the the first Indian-American woman to join the U.S. Senate. Starting January, Harris will be the second black woman — and first Indian-American woman — to win a seat in the Senate. She received more than 40 percent of the vote in California's primary. Harris' win marks the first time a Republican wasn't on California's general election ballot in more than a century.
