Hillary Clinton: What went wrong in the election

Hillary Clinton: What went wrong in the election Controversy swirled around Clinton's campaign as the FBI continued to investigate her use of a private email server. In late October, the FBI found additional emails on disgraced politician Anthony Weiner's computer. As a result of the FBI investigation, voters failed to see her as trustworthy, according to several polls conducted by major media outlets. Paid speeches to Goldman Sachs and a murky web of business connections to the family charity didn't help either. Clinton didn't hold enough minority votes. Some 88 percent of African-American voters supported Clinton, versus 8 percent for Donald Trump. In 2012, Obama locked up 93 percent of the black vote to Mitt Romney's seven percent. The economy, a major topic of discussion in this year's election, is a category Trump won. Trump successfully convinced voters to believe this was caused by bad trade deals and a rigged economy. Clinton was selling was mainly herself. The campaign’s strongest message was that she was uniquely qualified to become president. Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan hit home more with supporters. As a result of the issues above, Clinton ultimately lost a number of swing states that Obama won in 2012 like, Florida and Ohio.
