Wild panda rescued after falling off hydroelectric power station

Footage has emerged from China of a wild panda being rescued after it fell into a hydroelectric power station.

The video, captured in Sichuan Province on Tuesday, shows the stricken female panda in the water, attempting to climb back onto dry land.

A separate clip then shows a group of people using equipment in an attempt to hoist the panda off the dam.

According to local reports, the animal got into trouble while trying to cross the power station and fell into the river below.

Police tranquilised her and, after three hours, the group of rescuers were able to release her back into the wild successfully.
