On Thursday, it was announced by the Kremlin that Putin signed off on making his celebrity friend an official Russian.
According to a spokesperson for Putin, Seagal “…has been insistent for a long time in asking to be granted Russian citizenship…he is known for his warm feelings to our country. He never made a secret of it, and he’s also a well-known actor, which gave grounds to make him a Russian citizen.”
USA Today reached out to the action film and reality television star, asking if he intends to accept Putin’s offer. As of Thursday morning, it had not received a response.
